Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10, 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was transferred to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company shortly after. Corcoran, one of ABC's first Shark investors has been part of each episode of Shark Tank. Since February of 2020, she has made 53 deals on the show, the largest one being $350,000 for 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten in an Irish-Catholic working class family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a multi-talented worker throughout the years of Corcoran's childhood. The family relied sometimes on free food delivery from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran remembers her fatheras one who would drink too much and treated her mother disrespectfully and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed several drinks. Corcoran struggled in school, and was later told that she had dyslexia. She attended the local Catholic elementary school and started high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran was proficient in a variety of classes during her first year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
